Microbiologist 'blogs way' to communicators award

Dr Siouxsie Wiles has picked up the 2012 New Zealand Association of Scientists (NZAS) Science Communicators award for communicating scientific issues of interest to the public. 

Dr Wiles, a microbiologist at The University of Auckland's Department of Molecular Medicine and Pathology, received a $500,000 Sir Charles Hercus health research fellowship from the HRC in the 2009 career development awards funding round. Dr Wiles is using state-of-the-art non-invasive bioluminescence imaging technology to investigate how certain bacteria cause disease in humans.
