Lay summary
The research will use a qualitative kaupapa Māori methodology to explore whānau Māori perceptions of acceptability and accessibility of different parenteral (non-oral) vaccines for whānau Māori. The study will inform which types of technologies (e.g. microneedles, transdermal patches) should be prioritised for further health technology development for delivery of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine. Developing culturally informed parenteral vaccines could improve vaccine uptake for whānau Māori and reduce current inequities in rates of measles, mumps and rubella.
