Lay summary
Te Whāriki Research intend to explore the feasibility of implementing 'Waha Pikitia', a newly created research approach that incorporates photography, infographics, and other media to engage marginalised groups in visually communicating and documenting their lives. We will look at the usability of Waha Pikitia in readiness to implement; build community research capability; grow kaimahi leadership to work more effectively with whānau; and strengthen local relationships. The intended outcome of this research activation activity is to (a) establish and improve the feasibility and usability of Waha Pikitia (b) capture the difference Waha Pikitia makes for whānau, and (c) provide co-design and research experience for community-based researchers. This information will inform a future Health Delivery Research Grant application to implement and evaluate Waha Pikitia as a model of promoting whānau wellbeing through visual communications.
