Lay summary
The study aims to explore the feasibility of using a series of animated instructional videos titled "Talking about medicines" to inform patients about how cardiovascular medicines work and why they need to take them. The study will evaluate the practicality, acceptability, and implementation of the videos in a clinical setting, as well as the burden and costs of administering the intervention. The research will use a mixed methods approach to collect data, including clinical staff and patient interviews, and will explore culturally appropriate approaches to interview and survey design. The study aims to identify priority questions and validated tools to measure patient health literacy, knowledge, attitudes, and practices toward medication taking. The goal is to enhance the capacity of the research and advisory team in conducting and refining research in this field and to develop protocols for a larger study that evaluates longer-term medication adherence and clinical health outcomes.
