Lay summary
During this study, health care professionals and their patients will be questioned about how they currently perceive the use of cannabis as a medicine, specifically the knowledge and expectations they have around its use. The aim of the study is to understand how cannabis as a medicine is regulated globally, with an aim to apply this to New Zealand, from both a legal/quality standard and clinical efficacy perspective. A series of novel systematic and literature reviews that will inform the development of both regulatory guidelines and evidence based continuing medical education modules for health care professionals will be undertaken.
