Lay summary
Over the past 26 years, Tū Kotahi has conducted research founded in Te Ao Māori that serves the realities and aspirations of Māori communities. Tū Kotahi is now positioned to expand our research vision by establishing our independent kaupapa Māori research centre. Through our project, we will engage in meaningful hui that support our emerging research centre by building and strengthening connections within our community, the public health sector, and government agencies. Additionally, we will increase our research-related capacity by enhancing kaimahi capability through training and professional development. This will better position us to develop, and lead, independent research, as well as advance the capability for our emerging independent kaupapa Māori research centre. Our whānau and community have expressed their support for research informed by kaupapa Māori frameworks and whānau-centred approaches and view it as an important way to improve the success of whānau and the community.
