This includes the need to establish infrastructure to develop, test, implement, monitor and deliver cancer care in a way that works for Māori. Hei Āhuru Mōwai Māori Cancer Leadership Aotearoa aims to engage widely with whānau, hapu, iwi, cancer researchers, cancer care providers, funding and research organisations to develop a proposal for establishing a Māori Cancer Research platform (Tūāpapa Rangahau Matepukupuku). This platform will be a hub and network for Māori cancer researchers, communities, and kaimahi that privileges whānau Māori voice in cancer research and connects closely with national cancer control and research infrastructures. As Māori cancer leaders, we see the need to whakamana and resource kaupapa Māori and community-led cancer research methodologies, workforce, programmes and leadership.
