Lay summary
To address Māori health needs, many models of Māori health have been created to be used in clinical spaces. However, through my own personal observation during clinical placements, I have become acutely aware of the philosophical challenges and tensions between the medical world and the Māori world. This project aims, firstly, to explore current challenges to the application of tikanga Māori in health care spaces and, secondly, to contribute to building tikanga policies, protocols, guidance and skills for clinicians, managers and Māori leaders.
