Lay summary
The focus of this project is to build a ‘research ready’ culture across Te Tauihu and to develop a collaborative health research vision for our locality. The project will specifically evaluate our kaupapa Māori research capability and explore how to better incorporate Mātauranga Māori in health research design and evaluation. To achieve this we will identify and engage key stakeholders, and complete an environmental scan to establish current capacity, barriers and gaps. The anticipated outcomes are setting health research priorities for our region and developing a collaborative health research vision that directly informs planning and leads to equitable health outcomes. NMH will be in a stronger position to support future locally led health delivery research projects by enabling an active research culture and clear priorities for Te Tauihu. The Lead Investigator for the project is Dr Nicholas Baker, Nelson Marlborough Health Chief Medical Officer.
