This funding will enable an established Women's Refuge to develop, and, submit a Ngā Kānohi Kitea project application. The proposal will strengthen Hauraki capacity for Kaupapa Māori research methods, build on previously tested community mobilisation strategies, create a framework to measure outcomes, and, explore the evidence for a whānau violence prevention technique that is thought to be making a difference within local whānau, hapū, communities. The work programme, for development of the NKK application, will involve reviewing relevant literature and government policy directions to inform the rationale and methods; establishing a reference group with outlying service provider groups for relationship-building, co-design and collaboration purposes; writing the proposal, and, independent review of the overarching design by a recognised, Kaupapa Māori, expert in the field.
