Lay summary
This grant will support the development of an HRC Project Grant application for submission in 2017. The intended research project will improve rangatahi wellbeing by informing local interventions by iwi and Maori communities. This will be achieved by working with iwi and Maori representative organisations to create a new Maori longitudinal study using existing data within the official statistics system. Focusing on the determinants of rangatahi wellbeing, the project will transform national statistics into a locally accessible tool linked into service delivery planning and evaluation at the iwi, rohe as well as regional level. Linking into existing iwi and regional Maori development plans, this project will produce information that will immediately inform the delivery of services and interventions to improve rangatahi wellbeing. This development grant will support the full engagement of the community, organisational, research and government stakeholders required to complete the project grant application for this transformative project.
