This proposal seeks a Māori health research development grant for Te Kōhao Health to develop a project proposal for submission in the 2025/26 HRC Ngā Kanohi Kitea funding round. The research project will focus on the design and testing of a community based, kaupapa Māori breast cancer care pathway. The development grant will be used to develop the scope, outline and full research project proposal by (1) hosting wānanga with wāhine Māori and their whānau to understand their needs, (2) engaging in partnership with health system stakeholders (Te Whatu Ora – Waikato), (3) engaging expert researchers to assist in the development of a full research project proposal, and (4) engaging research partners for the full project.
