Lay summary
We are aiming to conduct a collaborative qualitative review on the relationship between Tikanga Māori, Hauora Māori, and general eye health. This is a previously an unexplored area and the study will involve conducting multiple focus groups of Māori clinicians, academics and health consumers. This will provide a unique perspective on Māori whakaaro surrounding the eyes and their role in Tikanga and Hauora. This will provide evidence on Mātauranga Māori to inform clinical practice when engaging with Māori patients, in Aotearoa.
