Whakamaua Project
Lay summary
We will undertake a mixed-methods evaluation of Whakamaua: Māori Health Action Plan 2020-2025, which will embed Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Mātauranga Māori to ensure translational research that addresses the outcomes, objectives and potential future direction for Whakamaua. We are a Māori-led research team, with expertise spanning kaupapa Māori research, implementation science, pro-equity research, qualitative methods, health systems research, epidemiology, health policy, health system databases and health economics. This proposal offers several opportunities for workforce development at the community, practice, academic or policy levels. The team will work closely with the Ministry of Health and the Māori Health Authority, to ensure the evaluation is collaborative and responsive to the existing and emerging context of recovery following COVID-19 as well as the changing environment of the current health and disability system reforms.
