Lay summary
A kaupapa Maori investigation of traditional end-of-life care customs of Maori whanau living in Auckland using ethnographic and qualitative research techniques. A kaumatua-led study in partnership with palliative and end-of-life care researchers at the University of Auckland. The pilot development phase will; a) assist kaumatua to complete the study design; b) prepare the full project grant application for face-to-face interviews with five whanau carers, which will explore traditional tribal/whanau care customs to provide useful feedback on the interview schedule and research process to inform a larger study.
