The work proposed for this fellowship focuses on developing health interventions for Pacific youth and young adults. The project includes two complementary components: (1) a research component - training and developing interventions targeting the reduction of obesity, and (2) a career development component - developing a Pacific Health Research Programme that includes building a pool of public health Pacific researchers, and planning the establishment of analogous obesity research projects among other relevant indigenous groups. The fellowship provides dedicated time for the applicant who will be mentored and advised by well-known experts, thus developing her expertise and leadership in this area of health.
