Lay summary
Currently the curriculum delivered to medical students at Otago caters for the academic and general aspects of professional development of Maori medical students, however there is no specific curriculum for Maori medical students' cultural development. Exploration of the cultural development needs of Maori medical students would be valuable in planning how best to meet these needs. It is highlighted that many Maori medical students feel they would benefit from more exposure to te reo me ona tikanga. This research will provided a better insight into the needs and aspirations of our diverse tauira and how we can better support them.
