Lay summary
Research undertaken in the Family Centre with older Māori/kaumātua has shown a keen interest from older Māori in my community to have their voices heard, and to influence and inform the design of services which can help them be healthy and fulfilled as older Māori. Older Māori want to see some changes happening for themselves and other older Māori. This Development Grant will contribute to a community-based research project where the kaumātua voice is listened to, and influences the types of services available to older Māori/kaumātua. The resulting grant application will be kaupapa Māori and co-constructed in a community setting, with a clear focus on improving oranga kaumātua. It will help me develop skills in research design, consultation, co-construction and academic writing.
