Lay summary
Wai-Rangahau has a fundamental interest in undertaking research which is able to transform the health outcomes of our community. For this to occur we need to be able to pinpoint and better understand the specific health needs of our community, so as to be able to practice a considered alignment between our investments and the aspirations of our Māori whānau. This research development project will therefore focus on four broad areas of interest which investigate the health needs of our community, the specific health perspectives of our community, the level to which health needs within our community are currently met, and how optimal health and wellbeing can be promoted and sustained within our Māori community. Being able to answer these questions will enable us to develop a targeted and robust research strategy for our community.
