Lay summary
We propose to undertake a Pacific-led, community-based participatory research approach to explore the meaning and value of physical activity for Samoan men living with long-term conditions as a means of enabling improvements to their health. Our research creates an open, collaborative, and culturally safe space for building trusted relationships through talanoa as a first step towards understanding health priorities for Samoan men living with long-term conditions. The outcomes of the activities provide an important opportunity to shape future research endeavours in this field. The activities will build capacity of the emerging Samoan clinical research team members, identify culturally responsive research methodologies and methods, and enable community driven solutions and knowledge translation for health service delivery to better meet the health needs of this population.
