Lay summary
Endometrial Cancer (EC) is a significant health and equity issue in Aotearoa. There are inequities for Māori and Pacific women in both EC incidence and mortality. We seek to lift the voices of Māori, Pacific to explore their cultural views on EC Microbiome research. This study looks at the acceptability of, and equity in the research topic/concept, different methods, sample types and preferences of engagement using Kaupapa Māori and Pacific research approaches. The study will use hui and talanoa for women to share their views and we will analyse data for themes from their stories. The findings will inform the main EC Microbiome study which plans to examine if P. somrae can be detected and if found to be a biomarker, this raises the possibility of a screening test in the future, with the aim of addressing EC inequities.
