Lay summary
This action research project proposes to develop a training module and a set of workshops, with a further goal of creating a microcredential in the future for healthcare professionals that seeks to address the discrimination that is experienced by Pacific Rainbow+ peoples in the New Zealand healthcare system; broadening its focus to include a regional case, the Cook Islands. This project draws on the findings of the Manalagi Project (survey and talanoa), existing best practice literature on professional development design (ADDIE model), queer and Pacific pedagogies - partnering with Pacific Rainbow+ organisations across Aotearoa-New Zealand: F’INE Aotearoa Pasifika Trust (Tāmaki Makaurau), Nga Uri O Whiti Te Ra Mai Le Moana Trust (Porirua), Moana Vā (Ōtautahi-Christchurch), Teine O Le Apu (Heretaunga-Hawkes Bay) as well as Tīwhanawhana (Takatāpui organisation) and Te Tiare Association (Cook Islands) - to provide Pacific Rainbow+ competency professional development opportunities for Pacific health professionals in Aotearoa-New Zealand and the region.
