Lay summary
Stroke results in significant personal, social and economic burden for the individual, their whānau, and society yet services struggle to address life after stroke and long-term wellbeing despite clinicians and people with stroke all saying this should be a priority. There is a need, and a desire to improve support for people after stroke. This activation grant will lay the platform for a co-ordinated approach to research, practice, and policy that will support transformational change in stroke service delivery. We will build relationships between researchers, clinicians, NGOs, and people impacted by stroke and engage in priority-setting exercises throughout Aotearoa. Key outcomes will be: (1) identified priorities for improving stroke service delivery (2) a prioritised research agenda that identifies key questions for future health delivery research and names of interested collaborators, and (3) an established research network which can collaborate on future health delivery research.
