Lay summary
The existing integrated mental health care of New Zealand adopted the national integrated care model, with different district and regional specific components. The dynamics of the changing environment and our unique population give rise to uncertainties and complexities in the service integrations. The future study will evaluate PIP-NZ, an instrument that can be used to evaluate degrees of service integration temporally (change over time) and spatially (difference in location), considering the needs of tauira Māori population, migrant populations, and a local population of rich diversities. The evaluation framework will be expected to provide a constructive health- improvement map for service providers and policy makers to meet the needs of a changing integrated health system in Aotearoa. The proposed study will prepare the implementation of this system framework for the integrated mental health care under the New Zealand Health Reforms, enhance Vision-Mātauranga aspirations and build up team capacities for the future study.
