People starting dialysis for advanced kidney disease currently have a "one-size fits-all" treatment delivery. They start with three times a week haemodialysis regardless of their body size, kidney function, or overall wellbeing. Starting dialysis only twice a week instead may give people more time to adapt to dialysis, protect their kidney function, and give them more time to remain in work or connected with family and cultural activities. This project will develop relationships with the 12 key dialysis units in Te Whatu Ora providing dialysis care and develop an implementation plan for conducting a global randomised clinical trial comparing three times a week with twice a week haemodialysis in Aotearoa New Zealand, called the INCH-HD trial.
