Lay summary
Te Whāriki Manawāhine O Hauraki will partner with Hikoi Nation - Gang Whānau to facilitate the delivery of four trauma noho at designated marae between Tauranga Moana, Hauraki and Kirikiriroa. The project seeks to learn from the noho through an observation role, and with the approval of gang whānau leadership for the project, and with the consent of the members attending the noho. The observation role involves capturing the key learnings; the strengths of the noho as told through the lived experiences of the attending members (16 years and over) and later shared at hui between Hikoi Nation and the Te Whāriki research team. This is one way of supporting the long-term goal of gang whānau being free from family violence, sexual violence, and the compounding effects of intergenerational trauma and isolation from wider society.
