Lay summary
Little is known about the cultural needs of Pacific service users in forensic mental health services (FMHS). Given Pacific peoples are over-represented in such services, an understanding of such needs is crucial for equitable service delivery. This research aims to explore the cultural needs of Pacific service users in FMHS through semi structured interviews with Pacific service users, families of such service users, and staff of Pacific ethnicity. An exploratory qualitative research design is combined with a cultural paradigm (Teu Le Va) to keep all involved culturally safe in this process.
