Applicant: Emma Webb. My background is in physiotherapy and Māori health development. I have developed a career in private practice physiotherapy and am currently the head of Māori health at TBI Health. My career objectives are to grow my academic capabilities, go on to complete a PhD in Māori health and to consult to Government or Iwi organisations. My research objectives for this project are to understand the experiences of Māori physiotherapists working in private practice. This research uses a Kaupapa Māori methodology, has a critical research whānau and is guided by tikanga. It uses semi-structured interviews, or pūrākau for data gathering and a thematic analysis for data analysis. The health benefits are in gaining an understanding of the Māori physiotherapy workforce in private practice for whom there are no data recorded. This will give insight into how we can decolonise private healthcare.
