The patient journey after diagnosis of cancer can be a particularly stressful time. This may include receiving a difficult diagnosis, uncertainty about the future, unfamiliarity with systems of care, and anxiety associated with major medical interventions. The department of Surgical Sciences has developed an app that provides individualised content for patients, allows correspondence with healthcare providers, and data collection. In this study, content focusing on what patients need to know about chemotherapy and radiotherapy will be developed. This will be integrated with the surgical care pack to develop a total colorectal cancer pathway for patients. A pilot study assessing the acceptability and effectiveness of the care pack in supporting patients undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy will be performed.
