Lay summary
The literature review will focus on aspects of statistical precision in Tatauranga Aotearoa Stats NZ’s surveys of Māori wellbeing, Te Kupenga. The aim of this studentship is to get experience and knowledge not usually accessible in undergraduate papers, but useful to create a foundation for future study in applied statistics. Over the 10 week Summer Studentship I plan to: - Complete and finalise a literature review about key Māori official statistics resources - Gain access to and some experience of using the Stats NZ IDI - Undertake short courses in health research methods and data visualisation - Learn the basics of cohort analysis of population data - Meet other Māori applied statisticians working with official statistics.
