We propose a community-based screening, measurement of body composition, and health education initiative to improve prevention and management of T2D among young adults. This project is predicated on 'precision public health' – implementing pragmatic health promotion and advocacy strategies to increase awareness of diabetes care in Pacific and Māori communities. Using a public-and-data power solution approach, we will utilise data in real-time to support risk communication and advocacy related to T2D awareness and care. This research project falls within the scope of health delivery, and healthcare needs assessment involving end-users. The research activation aims to estimate the prevalence of T2D among participants, assess their knowledge of T2D, risks and barriers to access T2D care, and document their preferred model of T2D care delivery. The research will highlight the needs for T2D care delivery and inform policy and practices related to T2D prevention and management among young adults.
