Lay summary
Translating research findings into practice will lead to equitable outcomes for the health and wellbeing of our communities. A joint Canterbury and West Coast Health System Research Strategy has recently been adopted with a clearly articulated vision for the future of health research for our populations and improve equity. To implement this strategy requires significant re-organisation and investment into the structures, processes, policy and governance which support these research activities. This activation grant will bring together the health system partners, iwi, Māori health community, and stakeholders to identify opportunities to align processes for Māori health advancement through research. The intended outcome of this activation activity is to develop and establish the platforms, systems and frameworks which will help to identify, facilitate and grow future health delivery research. Of particular focus will be the promotion of research which informs the implementation of enhanced service delivery to improve equity.
