Rationale for undertaking this research: By answering the research question, we believe it will give Kahungunu iwi, hapu sound evidence with qualitative and quantitative data to better inform them where to invest post-Treaty settlement. We want to find out what makes this place different for overweight whanau and collecting evidence to prove or disprove its special Ahua (Aura). The research team would need to build robust questions and design of methods, interviews, data analysis, and data collection with clinical partners to determine if Hikoi4life can have a positive impact on type 2 diabetes in Maori men. Outcomes: With qualitative data and results from the participants, it can be used for our Maori health providers and Ngati Kahungunu post-Treaty settlement.
