Lay summary
The proposed research project aims to explore the research experiences of past Pacific postgraduate students within the Division of Health Sciences at the University of Otago. Potential participants will be sent an introductory email explaining the purpose of the research and asked for a time to conduct a telephone interview. Semi-structured interviews will be carried out, with key lines of questioning including their experience as a research student, identifying some of the strengths and where they think things could be improved. The interviews will be recorded and notes taken during the interview. Data will be analysed by the student and supervisor with findings written up as a report and a copy sent to participants, taking care to protect the anonymity of respondents. Conducting this research project will provide insights to enable institutions to facilitate and develop research pathways for Pacific students in university health programmes.
