Lay summary
The aim of this research is to examine in depth the barriers or reasons why young Pacific adults in New Zealand fail to access or use the mental health services that are available. Furthermore, the narratives of young Pacific people will be heard in this study, adding to the body of knowledge on the difficulties of accessing and utilising mental health services in New Zealand. With the young New Zealand-born Pacific population rapidly growing, there is an increased need for Pacific-led and solution-focused initiatives, health policies, and planning required for the future. As a result, the purpose of this research is to inform policy and healthcare delivery that is inclusive of the needs of our young Pacific adults.
