TBD
For developers: We currently keep an up-to-date spreadsheet of all our funded studies dating from current contracts through to the past 10 years. In this very detailed spreadsheet, data is itemised into the following categories (and more). The document is currently for internal purposes only, but it’s the data from this spreadsheet that I suggest we use for building and populating our new Repository tool for the new website.
If we can transfer this data to the online Repository, then the existing itemisation can be used to keyword and tag each research study into the following categories:
*Title of Research study
*Name of Principal Investigator
*Lay summary of research
*Host organisation
*Commencement date of research
*End date of research
*Funding amount
*Grant type – ie. Emerging Researcher Frist Grant, Project, Programme, Feasibility Study, etc…
*Type of research – ie. Health Services, Public Health, Clinical, Biomedical.
*Health condition/issue – ie. Disability, Infectious Diseases, Mental Health, Wellness, Cancer, Cardio (cerebrovascular disease), etc…
A great search function will be essential for this Repository to work well for users. I suggest a dropdown menu itemising the key SEARCH CATEGORIES, and then within each category there’ll need to another drop-down menu which details the more specific options:
For example:
SEARCH BY CATEGORY:
Principal Investigator
SEARCH BY Surname, First Name (to reveal options)
Host organisation
SEARCH BY full name or keyword, eg. ‘Te Kotahi Research Institute’ or ‘Waikato’ (to reveal list of options)
Year commenced
SEARCH BY specific year (to reveal list of options) or in order of newest to oldest
Grant type
SEARCH BY full name of grant or keyword, eg. “Emerging Researcher First Grant’ or ‘Emerging Researcher’ to reveal options.
Health issue
SEARCH from the dropdown list of options provided. These categories are broad – eg. Mental health, Diabetes, Occupational Health, etc, so it can’t be left for people to type in all manner of keywords which might not bring up a match.
How we populate this Repository in the most effective, functional and easy-to-use way will obviously all be up for discussion!
