Pain is the most common reason people seek healthcare and the leading cause of disability in the world, affecting more than 30% of people worldwide and accounting for at least 5% of total disability-adjusted life years in New Zealand. Costs of living with persistent pain in New Zealand have been estimated to be around $20,000 per person or $15 billion/year. Sadly, medicines and surgery are not able to bring resolution of pain for many.
The New Zealand Pain Society have arranged a number of pre-conference workshops on Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 March 2026; with the NZPS Conference starting on Friday 20 through to Saturday 21 March 2026. Join them to connect and come together to enhance our collective ability to understand and manage pain.
