Lay summary
This application is to support emerging research Karen Turanga to broaden her research skills and in particular to learn Kaupapa Māori research knowledge and skills. As part of He Toa Taumata Rau research project already funded by HRC, Karen will undertake an analysis of the New Zealand Defence Force’s current policies and processes related to military personnel transition from the military into civilian life. Military to civilian transition is often a difficult time for veterans, with a range of stressors affecting mental and physical health. The goal is to recommend development of policies and processes to better support the transition of personnel who have served. Karen Turanga is an emerging researcher and veteran; expanding her research knowledge and skills will support her continuing development as a Māori researcher.
