Lay summary
Our proposed research activity will focus on establishing a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, clinicians and healthcare professionals working in type 1 diabetes (T1D) in New Zealand to explore barriers to continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) uptake, prior to the launch of publicly funded CGM for all people living with T1D in New Zealand. We will form a collaborative team with diverse expertise and strong community links to conduct the exploratory analysis that will inform the research agenda for future projects to improve healthcare delivery and promote equitable access to CGM. The four key components of our activity are: (1) relationship development (2) process for engagement with Māori and Pacific peoples (3) exploratory analysis, and (4) strategic dissemination plan. The outcome of this activation work will be a research collaboration well-positioned to advance a stream of research to maximise the reach and health equity of CGM technology.
