Dr Joevy Lim is a postgraduate, year-3 doctor who is passionate about a career in ophthalmology. She previously completed her Honours research year in the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Auckland, and subsequently completed her medical elective in the Oxford Eye Hospital, United Kingdom. She is now a New Zealand registered doctor, having completed rotations in various specialties, including Ophthalmology. In 2021, she commenced her doctoral thesis studies on the topic of melanoma and pigmented lesions in the eye. Her doctoral thesis studies comprise: (1) a large retrospective study between 2000 to 2020 to establish the current incidence, referral patterns, management, and outcomes of patients with eye melanoma in Aotearoa/New Zealand, (2) a large 1-year nationwide prospective study on pigmented eye lesions to explore the use of telemedicine and (3) the establishment of a centralised national referral process for concerning pigmented eye lesions.
