Rheumatic Fever Research Partnership announced

Issue date:

The Health Research Council of New Zealand (HRC) and the Ministry of Health, Te Puni Kōkiri, Cure Kids and the Heart Foundation have formed a joint research initiative which seeks to purchase high-quality research that will investigate rheumatic fever in New Zealand.

The overall objective of the research is to gain further evidence on the risk factors that contribute to the incidence of rheumatic fever in New Zealand, including access to health and housing services, the effectiveness of interventions and monitoring practices, and to provide evidence to inform the health sector and other relevant sectors on how to reduce the incidence and impact of rheumatic fever. The funding partners intend to fund a number of projects which will each focus on different areas within rheumatic fever research.

The Request for Proposals and all associated documentation will be released on the HRC website and on the Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS) on Thursday, 14 March 2013. Individuals and organisations interested in undertaking research within the scope of this RFP will be invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). The EOI will be completed in two parts via the HRC’s online application system (EASY).

The HRC will host an Investigator Briefing Meeting (IBM) from 2-4 pm on 9 April 2013, which will be held at the HRC in Auckland. This will be an information session to go over the RFP, application and assessment process, and will present an opportunity to liaise with other interested parties. Please register your interest with Fiona Kenning via email: fkenning@hrc.govt.nz.
