The HRC established the Research Partnerships for New Zealand Health Delivery (RPNZHD) initiative to inform practice or system change and improvement, and support decision making in the area of health delivery in New Zealand, with a focus on timely knowledge transfer and implementation.
The next round of funding for this initiative will be outlined in a Request for Proposals (RFP), which is planned for release in February 2014. Applicants interested in undertaking research within the scope of this RFP will first be required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). The EOI will be submitted via the HRC’s online application system (EASY). Following an assessment process, successful applicants will be invited to submit a full application.
A unique feature of the RPNZHD initiative is the requirement for researchers to work in collaboration with health delivery decision makers, and for these decision makers to be involved throughout the research process. This increases the likelihood of effective and timely knowledge transfer. The organisation to which the decision maker belongs is also required to make a minimum contribution (financial or in-kind) towards the research costs.
Please note: The HRC has recently released two RFPs as part of the Health Innovation Partnership (HIP). These two RFPs employ a similar funding model to the RPNZHD RFP and are seeking applications that would improve health delivery in New Zealand in the areas of ischaemic heart disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. As such, these two areas of research will be excluded from the scope of the 2014 RPNZHD RFP.
Further details about the timeframes and funding available for this initiative will be included in the RFP.
