Pioneer honoured for work on powerful toxins

Professor John Fraser, who has a long association with the HRC, has received the Sir Charles Hercus Medal at the Royal Society of New Zealand's honours dinner for his pioneering work on bacterial superantigens.

Professor Fraser is internationally recognised for his work in the field of microbial virulence and pathogenesis, and is acknowledged as the discoverer of bacterial superantigens, first identifying them in the late 1980s.
