New breast cancer research intiative announced

Issue date:

The HRC, the Breast Cancer Research Trust and the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation have formed a joint research initiative to fund innovative research into breast cancer in New Zealand.

Through a Request for Proposals (RFP), the funding partners are seeking high quality, innovative research that will seek to improve and ultimately ensure survival from the disease through the identification of potential targets for treatment, early detection, predictive diagnosis, tailored treatments and predicting responsiveness to treatments.

The RFP and all associated documentation will be released on the HRC website and on the Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS) (www.gets.govt.nz) on Wednesday, 30 October 2013.

A total funding pool of approximately $400,000 (exclusive of GST) is available for allocation. The funding partners invite applications for funding of up to $200,000 (fully-costed, exclusive of GST) and duration of up to 24 months.

Further details on the timeframes and deadlines for this initiative will be included in the RFP.
