PHANZ Vax Chats Webinar Series – Conversations on Immunisation in Aotearoa

The Public Health Association of New Zealand (PHANZ) is continuing its new webinar series, Vax Chats, bringing together experts, practitioners, and community voices to explore the future of immunisation in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Vax Chats is providing a forum to discuss key issues, innovations, challenges, and success stories in vaccination – from equity and access, to community engagement, workforce development, and policy priorities. Each session will feature presenters sharing their insights, followed by Q&A.

Professor Nikki Turner ­– Adult immunisation within a whole-of-life vaccination approach

Nikki is an academic general practitioner, a professor in the Department of General Practice and Primary Care and the principal medical advisor to the Immunisation Advisory Centre, University of Auckland. Nikki's interests are in immunisation, equity, child poverty and primary health care. She lives on the Kapiti Coast and works part time as a general practitioner at Team Medical in Paraparaumu.

Nikki developed and evolved the Immunisation Advisory Centre since its inception over 25 years ago. IMAC is the national centre for advice, clinical guidance, quality standards, coordination, education and training and promotion for vaccines and the national schedule programme. Nikki has been involved with the World Health Organisation including membership of the international SAGE committee and is on several national advisory groups for immunisation and vaccines including for Pharmac, Te Whatu Ora and the Ministry of Health. Academically she is widely published with over 120 academic publications in the arenas of immunisation, vaccinology, and child health.
