The research aim is to investigate the interrelationships between Maori motherhood, cultural identity and mental wellbeing. The significance of this investigation is to contribute to theories and knowledge around Maori motherhood in the 21st century. The specific objectives are to describe the influences of cultural identity to mothering roles; the influences of cultural identity to mental health and wellbeing; and the influences of mental health and wellbeing on mothering.
