Lay summary
The aim of Te Waiata a Hinetitama – Hearing the Heart Song, is to develop and trial a culturally appropriate (indigenous) suicide postvention process and develop a tool that draws on narrative enquiry tradition. Suicide postvention refers to all the activities undertaken after a suicide occurs; it is part of the spectrum of suicide prevention and intervention. Introducing collaborative storying to this spectrum, ‘Te Waiata a Hinetitama’ aims to enhance and support current suicide postvention processes and to promote and increase community protective factors.
