Research objectives: Explore how being connected to your iwi impacts on your hauora or overall wellbeing, with an opportunity to learn from the results and develop strategies to support whanau, hapu and iwi. Principal methodologies: We intend to carry out a qualitative research project using face-to-face, in-depth interviews with people who whakapapa to Te Atiawa ki Waikanae. Thirty iwi members will be interviewed. We will use thematic analysis to identify key themes from the research data. Potential health outcomes or impact: Using the themes developed from the data, we will review how roles are impacting or enhancing hauora, and through this knowledge provide strategies and supports to the charitable trust for future growth and support of its people.
