The study will be undertaken in three parts which will: • discover attitudes and practices around hearing protection in the manufacturing industry • explore factors that influence the use of hearing protection devices • develop an appropriate intervention to influence behaviour that increases the use of hearing protection devices Establish an understanding of noise induced hearing loss and use of hearing protection devices in the NZ workplace, enabling facilitation of targeted interventions. The study will provide a platform for developing policy, innovative and effective interventions and growth of capacity for ongoing research into prevention of noise induced hearing loss in NZ.
