Lay summary
Homelessness is pressing public concern that has a disproportionate impact on tagata Pasifika. Despite this, there is no nationally coordinated response or programme of research. This internship, with the New Zealand Coalition to End Homelessness (NZCEH) and University of Auckland and Waikato researchers, explores the feasibility of a National Homelessness Strategy. Related social justice, human rights and the achievement of healthy and prosperous Pasifika community futures is of central concern. The project will involve engagements with the relevant research literature, site visits with leading service providers, and the intern working within a larger collaborative effort to address homelessness, involving NZCEH members and academics from the University of Auckland and Waikato.
